Book Discussion #1: Cover Changes

Doesn't it annoy you publishers change covers of books?
Lets say you are really enjoying a book (that is the first part of a series) and then you check when the sequel is being released/or has been released and what happens is that the cover of the book doesn't even REMOTELY MATCH THE FIRST ONE.

sorry for this rant, but cover changes are so aggravating.

Don't get me wrong, it all matters what happens inside the book, if the book is good or not, but doesn't t really hurt you when your covers of a series of books don't even look the same.

PUBLISHERS PLEASE STOP CHANGING THE COVER DESIGNS OF YOUR BOOKS!

We understand you want to change the cover's to gather more audience, but at least have the old cover design stay the same until all the books have been released; and then you can change the design.

Example 1.

The Diviners by Libba Bray is a historical fantasy book that was released in 2012, Recently the cover design for The Diviners has changed to match the cover of the sequel, Lair of Dreams. The cover of the first book was mysterious and dark and very eye-catching, with the sequel, it looks more childish and not as mysterious.

Example 2.

Now, I know in the US the covers are still the same and nice-looking (see the left hand one), but in the UK they used to have the lovely US editions, but changed them to these ugly unimaginative covers. It looks like some cheap CBBC fantasy series and looks terrible. This series is wonderful and amazing and the dreadful new cover change shows none of that. Even worse is that the UK have now again changed the covers to look more childish.

Now this is my opinion, I want to hear your thoughts in the comments below, what do you think about cover changes?

This is my first book discussion, next week I am going to be talking about E-reader/Kindle V.S real book.

See you next time! BYE!
